My Journey into Senior Care, Technology, and AI

--

Growing up in Houston, senior care was a topic I never thought much about. My friends occasionally discussed their experiences with aging parents, but it wasn’t a pressing concern for me. This changed dramatically when I moved to San Francisco during the pandemic. Volunteering to check in on seniors, ensuring they had essentials, and offering companionship opened my eyes to the challenges they face. The most significant issue I encountered was the prohibitive cost of care, which often left seniors and their families struggling.

Through my volunteer work, I formed meaningful connections with several seniors. Listening to their stories and understanding their needs highlighted the critical issue of affordability in senior care. Determined to find solutions, I delved into California’s demographics and the complexities surrounding skilled nursing. The stories of seniors exhausting their savings and facing homelessness in their later years were particularly heart-wrenching. I knew I had to take action.

At the end of the pandemic, I returned to Houston with a new mission. I immersed myself in researching the state of senior living in Texas, driven by a passion to make a difference. The stark reality is that the greatest barrier to a better quality of life for seniors, regardless of their medical needs, is cost. This is where my interest in technology and AI comes into play.

I believe that innovative technologies have the potential to revolutionize senior care. AI, in particular, can offer cost-effective solutions to enhance the quality of life for seniors. From remote health monitoring and personalized care plans to intelligent home systems that ensure safety and well-being, the possibilities are vast. By leveraging AI, we can not only reduce the financial burden on families but also provide seniors with the dignified, comprehensive care they deserve.

This mission has become deeply personal to me. I am committed to exploring and implementing new technologies that can mitigate the costs associated with senior care. By doing so, I hope to alleviate the financial strain on families and improve the lives of seniors. This is not just a professional endeavor; it is a heartfelt pursuit to ensure that every senior can live their golden years with the dignity, support, and care they deserve.
